Sheriff White was elected Sheriff of Pasco County in November of 2000 and assumed office on January 2, 2001. He retired April 30th, 2011 after being elected to three consecutive terms. He began his 35 year law enforcement career with the Brooksville Police Department and served with the Sumter Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol and Florida Alcohol and Tobacco. Sheriff White received an AA Degree from Pasco-Hernando State College and studied criminal justice at the University of South Florida.
Sheriff White has served on many governmental councils and is involved in numerous community efforts. He served on the transition team for Attorney General Charlie Crist. In 2003, he was chosen by Governor Jeb Bush to serve two terms on the Florida Violent Crime and Drug Control Council. Sheriff White attended the 85th class of the National Sheriff’s Institute, where his peers elected him class president. In 2006, Sheriff White served on Governor Charlie Crist’s transition team. Governor Crist appointed White to the Remediation of Illicit Drug Labs Task Force and the Forensic DNA Policy Committee. In 2008, Attorney General Bill McCollum appointed Sheriff White to Chair the Criminal Justice Committee of Statewide Gang Reduction Task Force. Sheriff White led a Transition Team for Governor-Elect Rick Scott.
Sheriff White serves on the National Sheriff’s Institute (NSI) Advisory Committee. He is the founder of Pasco Sheriff’s Charities, Inc. which holds several events each year to benefit Florida’s youth.
